I VISITED UPLANDS SCHOOL IN SOUTH AFRICA
AND DID THEY SHOW ME AROUND!
Queen Elizabeth
I MET THE QUEEN IN MOZAMBIQUE. MY ESCORT IS THE VERY BEAUTIFUL KIRSTY WIGGLESWORTH. SHE PLANNED THE WHOLE THING.
Prince Phillip
PRINCE PHILIP STOPS TO TALK.
HE IS A REAL GENTLEMAN.

PRESIDENT CHISSANO BIDS ME WELCOME TO HIS COUNTRY. ALL THE PEOPLE I MET THAT DAY WERE SO FRIENDLY.
WHILE VISITING FRIENDS IN SOUTH AFRICA ELWOOD HAD THE CHANCE TO TRAVEL TO MOZAMBIQUE WHERE HE WOULD BE A PART OF THE RECEPTION COMMITTEE FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH AND PRINCE PHILIP. IT WAS AN EXCITING DAY. ON HIS ARRIVAL HE WAS INTRODUCED TO THE PRESIDENT OF MOZAMBIQUE. THE PRESIDENT WAS VERY CURIOUS TO FIND OUT ALL ABOUT ELWOOD AND INTRODUCED HIM TO SEVERAL OF THE REPORTERS THAT WERE THERE THAT DAY. THEN THE PLANE LANDED AND ELWOOD JOINED IN THE LINE GREETING THE QUEEN. THE QUEEN SMILED AND WAVED. PRINCE PHILIP STOPPED TO INQUIRE ABOUT ELWOOD AND AFTER HEARING THE STORY, HE REPLIED "JOLLY GOOD". ELWOOD SPENT THE REST OF THE DAY ENJOYING THE FESTIVITIES.
Butterfly
ELWOOD SPENT SIX MONTHS AT UPLANDS SCHOOL. HE WAS ACCEPTED INTO THEIR SCHOOL ROSTER AND TOOK PART IN ALL OF THE CAMPUS ACTIVITIES. THESE ARE A FEW OF HIS FRIENDS THAT HE MADE WHILE THERE. WE BOTH HOPE TO VISIT THE SCHOOL IN THE FUTURE, AS ELWOOD THINKS OF IT AS HIS SECOND HOME. HE TALKS ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME.

FRIENDS AND I VISIT AT UPLANDS SCHOOL IN SOUTH AFRICA.
Julie
I GET TO MEET THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRLS. I TOOK JULIE TO THE KIMBERLEY DIAMOND MINES IN SOUTH AFRICA TO SHOP FOR DIAMONDS.
JULIE WAS THE LOVELY GIRL THAT TOOK ELWOOD ON A 3,000 MILE ROUND TRIP TO MEET WITH NELSON MANDELA. ON THE WAY, JULIE AND HER MOTHER STOPPED TO TAKE A REST AT THE KIMBERLEY DIAMOND MINES. I'M GLAD THERE WAS A FENCE THERE AS IT IS THE LARGEST MAN-MADE HOLE ELWOOD WILL EVER SEE AND HE DIDN'T BRING HIS PARACHUTE.
I DREAMED ONE DAY THAT I WOULD VISIT A PLANTATION IN AFRICA AND I DID.

ELWOOD WAS INVITED TO TOUR THE ELPHICK FAMILY FARM IN SOUTH AFRICA. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF ACRES TO TREK ACROSS. ELWOOD HAS NEVER BEEN VERY GOOD ABOUT KEEPING UP, SO THE MAID (ANNA) TOOK ELWOOD FOR A PIGGY-BACK SAFARI. HE WAS GLAD HE WENT. HE SAW GROVES OF MANGOS, ELEPHANTS, AND EVEN A CROCODILE. HE NEVER WORRIED, BECAUSE HE KNEW ANNA WAS A GOOD RUNNER.

Nelson Mandela
MY FRIEND JULIE GIVES A SPEECH ABOUT ME AT UNIVERSAL CHILDREN'S DAY. AS YOU CAN SEE. MEETING NELSON MANDELA ON STAGE MADE ME WEAK IN THE KNEES. JULIE GAVE THIS SPEECH AT THE NELSON MANDELA CHILDREN'S FUND:    I FEEL HONORED AND PRIVILEGED TO BE HERE WITH ELWOOD AT THE NELSON MANDELA'S CHILDREN'S FUND. ELWOOD HAS COME TO AFRICA FOR HIS SECOND TIME. THIS IS HIS FIRST TIME IN SOUTH AFRICA. HE HAS COME TO TEACH ADULTS AND CHILDREN AN IMPORTANT LESSON, TO BELIEVE IN A DREAM AND TO HAVE THE DETERMINATION TO SEE IT THROUGH TO THE END. ALL THOUGH ELWOOD CAN NOT SEE, HEAR OR TALK; HE HAS COME A LONG WAY. ELWOOD HAS A MOTTO I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL HERE TODAY. DREAM BIG AND BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS UNTIL THEY COME TRUE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO SET YOURSELF A GOAL IN LIFE. WITHOUT ANY, ONE'S LIFE HAS NO DIRECTION, AND IN TODAY'S WORLD AS WE DRAW NEAR TO THE END OF THE 20TH CENTURY, ELWOOD HAS COME TO REMIND YOU OF THIS, DREAM BIG. ELWOOD'S BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN SOUTH AFRICA HAS BEEN MET AND THIS WAS TO MEET YOU, MR. MANDELA. I SALUTE YOU AND THE MAN OF THE MILLENNIUM. OUT OF EVERYTHING ELWOOD HAS DONE, THIS IS CERTAINLY THE BEST OUT OF ALL AND HE WILL REMEMBER THIS SPECIAL DAY.
