MR. HAND AND I WERE IN RIPLEY’S
“BELIEVE IT OR NOT”,
SO I HAD TO CHECK THIS OUT.

ELWOOD CHECKS OUT THE WORLD’S LARGEST STAMP BALL, LOCATED IN THE LEON MYERS STAMP CENTER IN BOY’S TOWN. IT WEIGHS 600 LBS. AND HAS 4,655,000 STAMPS IN IT. THAT’S A LOT OF STAMPS TO LICK.

EVERYTHING SMELLS GOOD IN
“THE GARDEN OF THE BIBLE”

THE CAMPUS HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT CREATED THIS GARDEN IN 1989. IT COVERS 25,000 SQUARE FEET, HAS 150 PLANT SPECIES, AND IT HAS REQUIRED THOUSANDS OF YOUTHFUL VOLUNTEERS TO MAINTAIN IT OVER THE YEARS. IT JUST SHOWS WHAT THE DEDICATION OF OUR YOUTH CAN DO.

ANYONE FOR MARBLES?

EARLY ON, FATHER FLANAGAN, DID NOT HAVE MONEY FOR TOYS. A GENEROUS PERSON SENT A LARGE AMOUNT OF MARBLES. THE GAME BECAME VERY POPULAR AND BEFORE LONG THE NATIONAL MARBLES CHAMPIONSHIP WAS HELD AT BOY’S TOWN. CIRCLES CAN STILL BE FOUND IN FRONT OF THE HALL OF HISTORY.

I SIT AT THE FATHER’S DESK.

THE GREATEST GIFTS YOU CAN GIVE ANYONE ARE LOVE AND TIME. FROM 1936 T0 1939 TWENTY CHILDREN SHOWERED THEIR LOVE AND DONATED THEIR TIME INTO MAKING THIS DESK FOR FATHER FLANAGAN. THEY USED 39 VARITIES OF WOOD AND USED 250,000 PIECES OF INLAY IN FATHER FLANAGAN’S CHRISTMAS PRESENT. WHAT BETTER CHRISTMAS WRAPPING THAN THE GLOWING SMILES OF CHILDREN.
